Prior Lake Water Supply Drops to Alarming Level

Dry weather means sprinklers and hoses are working overtime across the area.

Prior Lake is experiencing an increasing demand of water this summer. The city used 6.1 million gallons of water last Wednesday.

Compare that to the average daily use in past years: in July 2011 Prior Lake averaged 3.5 million gallons a day, and in July 2010 they used 3.2 million gallons of water.

The city says with water running low they may have to tap into neighboring Savage's supply of water.

City crews are making the rounds looking for sprinkling offenders during the day. They'll first issue a warning, then there's a $50 fine that doubles every time a homeowner is caught.
