Minn. Veteran Wounded in Afghanistan to Get New Home

A Minnesota community is giving back to a wounded veteran who's given so much for his country.
Specialist Jack Zimmerman and his wife Megan broke ground Wednesday for their new home in Elysion, MN. It's being paid for by HelpingaHero.org, a nonprofit based in Texas that's given away 60 homes nationwide.
Zimmerman was injured in Afghanistan during March of 2011 by an improvised explosive device, and says this home will give him a life back.
"This way I know that if I have kids or what not, I can put them to bed at night, I can help my wife," said Zimmerman with a smile. "Heck, I can do whatever I want to do in this house and it's going to work for me."
The Zimmermans hope to be in their new house by Christmas.
Helpingahero.org is currently accepting applications for new homes.
