EmailDriver Killed After Leaving Highway 61, Hitting Tree
A driver was killed Friday night after leaving Highway 61 in St. Paul and hitting a tree.
The State Patrol says the accident happened shortly before 9 p.m. along Highway 61 north of Lower Afton Road.
A 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling northbound when the driver veered into the center median and into the southbound lanes. The driver then overcorrected and entered the ditch, striking a large tree.
The name of the driver has not been released.
