Sisters Weigh on Hearts, Minds During River Falls Celebration

A big celebration is taking on a somber tone in River Falls this weekend as the community remembers three sisters gone too soon.

Many of the people marching in the annual River Falls Days parade Friday night wore white T-shirts or ribbons in honor of the three Schaffhausen sisters found dead in their home earlier this week. Their father has been charged in their murders.

The oldest sister, 11-year-old Amara, was an avid soccer player. This weekend her teammates are selling green bracelets with the girls' names on them.

Proceeds will go to a fund that's been set up for the family at First National Bank of River Falls. The team had 1,000 bracelets to sell Friday and have already placed a second order.

On Thursday, the girls' mother, Jessica Schaffhausen, released a statement saying the family is thankful for the support of the community.

"When the time is right, the family will use the generosity and support to honor and memorialize the girls in the best way possible," Schaffhausen said
