Russian Fighter Jet Crashes at Metro Airport, Pilot Injured

A Russian MiG-21 fighter jet crashed as it was landing at Flying Cloud Airport in Eden Prairie Thursday morning, leaving the pilot with minor injuries.
Airport spokesman Patrick Hogan says the jet crashed through a fence and ended up on Flying Cloud Drive.
The aircraft, which uses a parachute upon landing to slow down, did not stop on the runway.
The pilot suffered minor injuries in the crash, which happened around 10 a.m. He was treated at the scene.
No one else was injured.
The incident closed a section of southbound Flying Cloud Drive between Pioneer Trail and Charlson Road. The road has since reopened.
An investigation is underway by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Hogan says the aircraft is in town for the AirExpo this weekend. Wings of the North says the incident will not impact AirExpo activities.
