High Temps Push Parks and Recreation Board to Open Air Conditioned Buildings

Even before temperatures climbed over 100 degrees on the 4th of July, the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board opened air-conditioned facilities that normally would have been closed for the holiday to give residents somewhere to go to cool down.

Peter Jaeger works at the Parks and Rec’s Powederhorn Park, he says plans were changed when the mercury started to climb,

"Typically on holidays, some of the parks have been closed in the past. This year we have a coordinated effort to have at least area parks with air conditioning open on the 4th of July."
