Bridge Collapse Rescue Efforts Honored in New Exhibit

Nearly five years after the Interstate 35W bridge collapse, a new exhibit showcases the extraordinary rescues made by paramedics and firefighters that day.

The exhibit, "81 Minutes: After the Bridge Collapse," follows the experiences of first responders working at several sites, from the Mississippi River to the 10th Avenue Bridge and the dispatch center.

It also looks at the training that happened ahead of the collapse and the collaboration between firefighters and residents on Aug. 1, 2007.

Eighty-one minutes is the time it took for first responders to get all of the collapse victims to the hospital.

The exhibit opened Saturday at the Firefighters Hall and Museum in northeast Minneapolis.
