Richfield Residents, School Board at Odds Over $187K Field Lights
The Richfield School Board has approved $187,000 for new lights at the high school baseball field.
It was a heated debate at the special board meeting Thursday night. Many taxpayers were not happy with the idea and wanted the money spent on the classroom or other capital projects.
Board members say the field is already undergoing renovations and it was the right time to get the project done. Opponents say this will send a bad message to Richfield voters this fall who will be asked to pass a levy referendum.
Richfield schools laid off teachers and cut $875,000 from the budget this year.
