Rescue Crews Free Trapped Construction Worker in Edina

Rescue crews were able to free a construction worker who was trapped in a trench in Edina Wednesday.
A construction crew was working on addition to a home near Paddock Road and Interlachen Boulevard when the worker was hurt.
Workers were digging a trench about six feet deep when a large piece of concrete came out of the dirt and landed on the man's left leg, pinning him there.
Once rescue crews arrived it took about two and a half hours to dig him out.
The man was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. He was treated and released.
The patient released a statement thanking the team effort from the Edina Fire Department, Hennepin EMS, and everyone else involved in the extrication, saying, “They did a top-notch job and made me comfortable throughout the rescue. They were absolutely professional. ”
