Minnesota Legislative Leaders, FEMA Survey Flood Damage

Flood recovery is underway, and communities are starting to get help from the federal government.

Tuesday, federal and state emergency management crews surveyed the damage to public infrastructure due to last week's severe weather and flooding.

The teams toured four different areas Tuesday; Dakota, Crow and Sibley counties, and the Crow Wing Tribal Nation.

The number they're looking to reach is $7.2 million in damage. If the damage across the state reaches that threshold, the governor can request a presidential disaster declaration to receive federal aid.

More Minnesota legislative leaders will be up in Duluth Wednesday looking at the damage.

Among them are House Speaker Kurt Zellers, Senate Majority Leader David Senjem, House Minority Leader Paul Thissen, and Senate Minority Leader Thomas Bakk.

The legislative leaders will meet with Duluth city and St. Louis county officers to talk about the damage.
