New Program Helps Guard Members Find Jobs

Minnesota's unemployment rate is right around 5.5%, but for its veterans returning from war it's more than double that.
But now a new initiative brings in corporate partners to help fight the battle of finding a job on the homefront.
It's put on through the Guard's Beyond the Yellow Ribbon program, and teaches guard members how to convey their military experience to civilian employers.
"I had never done a resume before joining the military, so coming back home I want to take advantage of every opportunity I can get to better myself in creating resumes and finding education that I need to advance my career," said Specialist John Struemke, who attended the sessions Sunday afternoon.
This was the first of three sessions that will occur every 30 days. If you're an employer who wants to learn more about hiring a veteran, click here.
