EmailLocal Athletes Compete in Power Soccer Championship
Many people with disabilities never get the chance to compete in sports, but with the Courage Center here in the Twin Cities, our area is a hotbed for one of the fastest growing adaptive sports.
The national power soccer championships were held in Minneapolis this weekend, with 12 teams from California to Vermont taking part, including two from Minnesota.
The sport lets people be competitive who might not otherwise have the chance.
"It was a godsend, it was exactly what we were looking for," said Lisa Connolly, a mother of an adaptive athlete. "He really has that heart of an athlete and this experience has been so good for him."
The Minnesota Blizzards, based out of the Courage Center, won the President's Cup 7-0.
