Retail Stores Take to Wheels to Save Money
Two Twin Cities businesses have a unique way to bring their products straight to the customers. One sells clothing from an old paper deliver truck. The other sells repurposed home decor from an old school bus.
Teresa Grim and her husband used to own a childrens' clothing store in Stillwater. It got pricey, and they closed up shop. She found out she could buy an old truck online for about the price of one month's rent in her old store.
She started taking "The Fashion Mobile" to city festivals last week. She'll also come to the customers for private parties.
Angela White Smith opened up her repurposed home decor store last year. "Uniquely Attainable" is in an old school bus. She also takes her store to area events where customers come out.
Business is doing well enough that she just started renting space in St. Paul's Lowertown area. She and several other retailers share the store and sell their products.
