Authorities ID Woman Found Beaten to Death in Mpls. Home

Police are looking for whoever murdered a retired Robbinsdale teacher in her Minneapolis home this week.

Authorities say the body of 76-year-old Lois Swenson was discovered at her home in the 2200 block of Vincent Avenue North on Wednesday after concerned friends contacted police.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office says Swenson died of multiple blunt force injuries.

Police say they believe Swenson's death is an isolated incident and the public is not at risk. They have interviewed several people, but have not made any arrests.

A retired teacher, Swenson was a peace activist who had lived in her neighborhood for at least 40 years. She taught neighborhood children to garden and took in renters who had no place else to go.

Swenson's death is the 10th homicide in Minneapolis so far this year. At this time last year, there had been 14 homicides citywide.
