Former Student: Breck Knew of Allegations Against Teacher
A former student at Breck School is suing the Golden Valley school, claiming administrators allowed a teacher to stay despite knowledge of sexual abuse allegations.
Richard Covin attended Breck between 1972 and 1975, when he was 12 to 15 years old. He claims William Jacobs repeatedly sexually abused him during a three-year period.
Jacobs was recently sentenced to as many as 18 years in prison for molesting another boy. Covin says Jacobs was molesting him back in the 1970's and that Breck knew Jacobs had a history of sexual abuse.
Breck officials declined to comment directly on Covin's lawsuit, but said in a statement that the school has an "unwavering commitment" to protecting students.
