Turkey Celebrates Pardon at State Capitol

The idea of freedom appeared to be all a turkey could handle at the state capitol Tuesday.

The Minnesota Turkey Growers Association brought a hen to meet Governor Tim Pawlenty, and be pardoned from ending up as someone's Thanksgiving dinner.

The bird became pretty excited when taken out of its cage. It flapped its wings illiciting laughter from the governor and the crowd watching.

The agriculture commissioner was able to calm the turkey.

The Minnesota Turkey Growers Association then announced the donation of 24,000 pounds of turkey to Hunger Solutions Minnesota. That's enough turkey to feed 32,000 people.

Minnesota is the number one turkey producer in the country.
