Fire, Explosion Damage East Bethel Home

Investigators are trying to figure out what caused an explosion and fire at a home in East Bethel.

The explosion happened around 12 p.m. on Thursday at a home on Channel Lane NE, which is located east of Viking Boulevard NE near Coon Lake.

No one was inside the home.

Firefighters from six departments responded.

East Bethel Fire Chief Mark DuCharme said, "Crews did an excellent job in doing a fire stop, minimizing loss, no one was hurt. One firefighter was overheated, but he's ok."

Investigators have not determined the cause of the fire, but the homeowner thinks it may have started in his truck which was parked in the driveway.
