Minn. Native Shares Account of Fort Hood Shooting
Two days after a shooting rampage killed 13 people at Fort Hood, those who live there say life is a mix of horror and normalcy.
Melissa Bergstrom says she is still surrounded by crime tape and investigators.
Melissa is a Twin Cities native -- now she, her husband Matthew, and their 2-year-old daughter live in military housing just outside the gates of Fort Hood.
She says security at the base is still extremely tight -- police guard buildings and hospitals.
Throughout the base she says there is an eerie feeling even as people go about their day to day lives.
Along with sadness, Melissa says there is also a sense of comradery, and even through their pain, people like her husband continue to work, and train.
They are soldiers, and she says they must go on.
Melissa says she expects the memorial outside the soldier readiness center to grow once the tape comes down and the investigators leave.
