Virginia, Hibbing Newspapers Cut Monday Editions

VIRGINIA, Minn. (AP) - The newspapers in Hibbing and Virginia have eliminated their Monday print editions to save money.

Mesabi Daily News Executive Editor Bill Hanna writes it's part of the continuing evolution of the newspaper.

On the other six days of the week, the newspapers will be printed and delivered as usual. There is no change in the business or news operations of the newspapers.

The change went into effect on Monday for subscribers to both the Mesabi Daily News and the Hibbing Daily Tribune. Both papers are owned by Superior Publishing Corp.

Another Superior Publishing paper, The Ashland Daily Press in Wisconsin, has already discontinued its Tuesday print edition.

Subscribers to all the papers will be able to get the same content through the newspaper's Web sites.
