“It’s a beautiful house, it’s amazing, it’s a beautiful house,” said Sandy Morris. It’s what went into the house that makes it so special for Morris and her children – lots of labor and love. “The amount of volunteers that came through here throughout the week… on cold rainy days and nights and were here all night long and all day.” In 96 hours, the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” team replaced the Morris’s 100-year-old house with a brand new home. It was a gift not just for the Morris family, but also for the children who attend daycare in the home. “It’s not just daycare, it’s a family and that what we are. One big extended family. We stick together, we support one another, and I love them all completely,” said Morris. Morris’s daycare families nominated her for the show, knowing she desperately needed some personal space. “We didn’t even have a dining room table to sit at,” said Morris. “We had a preschool table for dinners. When we walked in, we were like, we have a dining room table we can sit at, and they already chose their spots at the table.” The Morris’s have already invited over some dinner guests, including Tom Budzynski of TJB Homes, the main builder the Morris’s new home. “She’s already said ‘I’m gonna have you over and serve yous ome good Puerto Rican food for supper one night,’” said Budzynski. “And that’s what makes you feel good.” The Morris family said it’s all still sinking in, but the moment they saw their brand new house, they new one thing for sure. “You could feel the love, you could truly feel the love and support,” said Sandy Morris. |
