One Dead in Richfield Pawn Shop Robbery

Two suspects, tracked down with the help of dozens of tips, will likely be charged Thursday in a deadly shooting at a Richfield pawn shop.

Tuesday night Richfield police arrested Calvin Lee Anderson, 46, in Minneapolis and Johnny Lawvell Perry, 30, in St. Paul.

According to police, Anderson and Perry were the two men captured by surveillance cameras robbing Avi's Pawn and Jewelry store on Nicollet Avenue Monday. The robbers shot and killed customer Malcolm Cowens, 33, and shot an employee.

Police said after the photos from the surveillance cameras were released, they received 100 tips. Investigators said the tips really helped them start to put the case together.

Investigators spend Wednesday conducting photo lineups.

Any charges against Anderson and Perry will be filed in Hennepin County Court.

Andy Strauss, owner of Avi's Pawn, said the employee who was wounded has been released from the hospital.
