St. Paul Police says they busted about 100 drunk drivers a day, while the Minnesota State Patrol nailed nearly 2,000 people, during a recent crackdown. Exclusive dash cam video shows a man caught kicking, spitting, and swearing at a state trooper after he clocked him speeding through Chisago City. Turns out, the suspect was allegedly drunk too, failing this field sobriety test. The state patrol says the 34-year-old man blew a .19 at 1:45 in the afternoon. According to court records, the man has three prior DWI convictions. "The sad thing is there are a number of people out there. This is not an uncommon occurrence," explained Lt. Matt Langer The State Patrol and police stepped up DWI patrols in an end of summer push, arresting more than 100 people for DWI ach day of the 18-day campaign. "Really try and keep the fatals and the alcohol fatals down toward the end of summer which we know is when the spike occurs," Langer said. The state patrol arrests about 35,000 people for DWI each year. |
