Alligator Recovered from Eagan Pond
An alligator is in the Eagan jail Friday after it became a frightening Fourth of July party crasher.
A family spotted the three-foot long animal in a pond behind the 3600 block of Ashbury Place.
Hennepin County Animal Control officials had the day off, due to the holiday, leaving Eagan Police to apprehend the crocodilian. No one was injured.
The Minnesota Herpetological Society tells 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS they will take the alligator.
Police believe someone likely tried to raise the animal as a pet, and then attempted to get rid of it.
