Officers responded to a possible order for protection violation on Sunday shortly after 8 p.m. at 2700 Selkirk Drive. Police say Daniel Scott Allen was spotted trespassing on private property. Allen was found next to a building, but began to walk away, even while officers made repeated verbal commands for him to stop. Allen fled on foot through a wooded area and into a town home area. During the apprehension, Allen assaulted Officer Dan Anderson and resisted arrest. Officers had to use a taser and mace to subdue Allen. Officer Anderson, an eight-year veteran of the Burnsville Police Department, suffered a broken left hand during the arrest and will have to undergo surgery to repair the fractured bones. The Dakota County Attorney’s office filed a formal complaint against Allen on Tuesday for fourth-degree assault and fleeing a peace officer. |
