Two men are recovering after a dramatic rescue Wednesday afternoon in Rogers.

The two were trimming trees off Jasmine Way when the vehicle they were in hit a patch of ice and tipped over, pinning them in water under the equipment.

One of the men broke through and called 911, summoning first responders.

Rogers police chief Jeff Beahen helped keep the second man's head above water for 30 minutes until a tow truck was able to move in.

"I was in the water," Beahen said. "I was holding his nostrils...that was all that was left we could hold above the water.  My fear was the machine would shift and he'd drown in front of me."

But they were able to get him out safely. 

Both men were taken to North Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to make a full recovery.

"That was a great sense of relief," Beahen said. "I've been doing this 38 years and that was the scariest call I've ever been on."
