Officials at the Minnesota Zoo say Nikko, reported to be the oldest snow monkey in North America, died Sunday at what the zoo believes was age 34.

A release from the zoo states Nikko was born Sept. 11, 1983. He arrived at the Minnesota Zoo in 2001.

The release states the average life expectancy for male snow monkeys is 34 years. For females, the average life expectancy is 39 years.
