Neighbors are coming forward to help the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office find a man accused of groping a teenager at a Ramsey park.

The incident happened about 4 p.m. Monday near the playground area of Emerald Pond Park, located on the 6000 block of 142nd Avenue Northwest.

The girl said a man who was there touched her inappropriately. She said the man had been using a metal detector in the park and started talking to her after she asked him about it.

The sheriff’s office says several people have since come forward with more information, saying they’ve seen a man frequent the park with a metal detector.

The suspect was described as a white man who was about 5 feet 7 inches tall and had a medium build. He had a tattoo on his bicep, a light beard and short, messy, dirty blond hair. He was wearing a T-shirt and shorts.

The man was initially described as being in his mid-20s, but neighbors say he is probably in his late 30s or early 40s.

The neighbors say the man drives a white Chevy Suburban with two horizontal doors in the rear hatch as opposed to a lift gate.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office at 763-427-1212.
