While the Super Bowl will be played in Minneapolis next February, preparations for the big game are also taking place across the river.

Ramsey County and the city of St. Paul are working together to identify a list of critical locations and key resources during the Super Bowl. The list will be sent to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

"It's everything from the phone lines and power lines, to the power stations, hotels, the courthouse and City Hall," said Judson Freed, director of Ramsey County Emergency Management and Homeland Security. "In case of anything from of a winter storm, a traffic jam or some worse event were to happen, just to make sure that all those things are in place, that there are security for them and that everybody who needs to be aware of them is aware."

St. Paul will play host to several Super Bowl events leading up to the game. The St. Paul Winter Carnival has extended to be held during the Super Bowl.
