Police Identify Suspect in Fatal South Minneapolis Hit-and-Run

Minneapolis police said they are searching for 26-year-old Raheem Quanta Meekins in connection with a fatal hit-and-run vehicle crash on Sunday in south Minneapolis. 

Meekins also has an active arrest warrant via the state Department of Corrections.

The crash happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Minneapolis police say two southbound vehicles on Blaisdell Avenue South failed to stop for a red light at 26th Street West and collided with two westbound vehicles. A male passenger of one of the westbound vehicles, later identified as 32-year-old Jason Alexander Ritenour, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three people in one of the southbound vehicles remained on the scene, while three occupants of the second southbound vehicle fled on foot, according to police. Officers later located, interviewed and released one of those people.
