Police Identify 2-Year-Old Killed in Moorhead Crash

The Moorhead Police Department has identified the name of the 2-year-old child killed in a fatal four-vehicle crash Saturday.

Zaiden David Engen was killed when a full-size Ford F-150 pickup truck struck the rear of the vehicle occupied by the child, as well as 24-year-old Logan William Ness and 22-year-old Alyse Ann Engen.


Both vehicles continued to move, hitting two more cars.

The crash occurred around 12:05 p.m. Saturday in the left turn lane on eastbound Highway 10 at 34th Street. A release from Moorhead police said the child was transported to Sanford Health Center where he died. He was restrained in a car seat at the time.

The driver of the pickup has been identified as 42-year-old Jeremy James Sagvold. The release said he has been cooperative with authorities and did not show signs of impairment through field sobriety testing at the time of the crash.

ABC affiliate WDAY says a visitation for the boy will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton, North Dakota, with a prayer service at 7:45 p.m.

Visitation will continue from noon to 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 13, at Inspiration Lutheran Brethren Church in Breckenridge, Minnesota, followed by a funeral at 1 p.m. The Rev. Bruce Stumbo will officiate.
