A woman was found dead after a house fire in North Minneapolis Saturday night, according to Minneapolis police.

The fire started just after 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of Newton Avenue North. Firefighters said a garage was engulfed in flames when they arrived.

The garage was attached to the house, and the fire spread to the attic before being brought under control.

After the fire was extinguished, police said the woman was found inside a vehicle in the garage.

Police are working to determine whether her death was accidental, but they have ruled out homicide as a potential cause.

The Minneapolis Fire Department is investigating how the fire started.
