A northern Minnesota restaurant was destroyed in a fire Friday morning.

The Itsaca County Sheriff's Department said a report of a fire alarm at The Hill Bar and Restaurant, located on Highway 46 in Squaw Lake, was received Friday.


The Squaw Lake Fire Department was the first agency on the scene and found the building fully engulfed upon arrival.

Fire departments from Deer River, Northome, Blackduck and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office assisted in fighting the blaze. Deer River Ambulance also responded to the scene.

The building was a total loss. The matter is under investigation.
