Two pedestrians were injured during a vehicle crash Monday evening on East Lake Street in south Minneapolis.

Minneapolis police spokesman Corey Schmidt said that just before 6 p.m. a southbound vehicle on 12th Avenue East entered the intersection with East Lake Street and struck an eastbound vehicle, forcing that vehicle onto a sidewalk where it struck two pedestrians.

Schmidt said an adult male pedestrian suffered a leg injury and an adult female pedestrian suffered leg injuries. Both were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment, Schmidt said.

One of the vehicles was carrying three children, who were taken to be evaluated as a precaution. Neither driver was injured, Schmidt said.

Eastbound traffic was closed at 11th Avenue South for a spell after the accident. All parties were cooperating with police and no one was arrested, Schmidt said.
