Minneapolis leaders hosted a meeting Tuesday to update community members on a plan to end homelessness by 2025.

The Minneapolis Downtown Council’s 2025 Plan Quarterly Forum took place Tuesday at First Avenue.

Downtown leaders say reaching their goals will be a community effort.

“We’ve got a group working hard on public education to help the downtown community and residents understand the issue of homelessness, understand how to react to, perhaps, panhandling when they see it,” Minneapolis Downtown Council President and CEO Steve Cramer said.

Members of the Ending Street Homelessness Committee say they are working on organizing meaningful daytime activities for those in need in the downtown area, finding ways to help with transportation needs and creating an education campaign for the public to better understand homelessness.
