Minneapolis police are searching for a suspect who stabbed a man outside a downtown restaurant early Sunday morning.

The incident happened just after 1:30 a.m. near Stadium Bar and Grill on the 200 block of Washington Avenue North, according to police.

Minneapolis police spokesperson Sgt. Catherine Michal said officers had been called to the location on a report of a fight that had been upgraded to a stabbing. Upon arrival, they found an adult male with stab wounds to the chest and arm.

Michal said officers provided the man medical attention, including placing a tourniquet on his arm as they waited the arrival of paramedics. The victim was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.

Michal said police have not identified a suspect or made an arrest. It was unclear whether the perpetrator and victim knew each other or whether alcohol was involved.
