St. Paul police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found outdoors on New Year's Day in frigid weather.

Friends identified the man as Mario Folkner.

Mama's Pizza, of St. Paul, posted on social media, saying Folkner had worked at the restaurant for 10 years. Friends said Folkner had three young girls under the age of 10.

Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Ernster said officers were called late Monday morning to the Summit-University neighborhood after Folkner was found unresponsive. The St. Paul Fire Department also responded and pronounced him dead.

Ernster said he was found outside "exposed to the conditions."

Lori Hedican, chief investigator for the Ramsey County medical examiner's office, said the autopsy will be delayed until Wednesday due to "exposure."

Authorities do not believe foul play is expected.
