Man dead, firefighter injured after Columbia Heights fire

A man died and a firefighter was injured in a townhome fire in Columbia Heights Sunday evening.

The Columbia Heights Fire Department said firefighters from both Columbia Heights and Fridley responded to a fire report at a residence on the 700 block of Sullivan Way NE at about 5:19 p.m.

Initial reports indicated one person was possibly trapped inside the building.

The department said crews made several attempts to enter the home but were driven back by a structural collapse of the main floor.
