A 25-year-old man has been charged with murder in the death of his brother Tuesday in Plymouth.

The Hennepin County Attorney's Office announced Thursday that Garrett Bruce Ittel, 25, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the death of 27-year-old Jamison Ittel early Tuesday morning.

He is scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday.

The criminal complaint states police were dispatched to the 5300 block of Annapolis Lane on a report a man had stabbed his brother. Police reportedly found Garrett Ittel outside the apartment complex, standing over the body of his brother who was covered in a blanket - barefoot and shirtless.

The complaint states he was dead after being stabbed in the heart.

According to the complaint, investigators spoke with Ittel's mother, who had called 911 after she said she received a call from Jamison in which he said Garrett Ittel stabbed him. On that same call, Garrett Ittel allegedly admitted he had stabbed his brother.

The mother reportedly said she had received separate calls from both brothers earlier that evening - each saying they were having a fight. Her suggestion was that they go to separate rooms for the night.

Investigators inspected the two-bedroom apartment and found blood in the kitchen, in Garrett Ittel's bedroom and in a bathroom, the complaint states. They also reportedly found the knife Garrett Ittel allegedly used to stab his brother.

The complaint goes on to say Garrett Ittel told police he and his brother had been drinking when they began to argue about rent money Jamison owed him. He reportedly said he stabbed his brother in a closet, then changed his story after being confronted with physical evidence, allegedly stating he stabbed him in the kitchen.

The complaint states that he had gone to his dresser drawer, pulled out a knife and stabbed his brother twice. After being stabbed, Garrett Ittel said his brother left the apartment to go to the front steps of the apartment building where his body was found.
