Two women are about to become the youngest all-woman team to circumnavigate Lake Superior in kayaks.

Twenty-one-year-old Uma Blanchard of Iowa City and 20-year-old Sophia Goeks of New Brunswick, Canada, began their journey May 25 near Bayfield, Wisconsin.

Their goal is to cover 1,200 miles of Lake Superior coastline in 90 days. They have already paddled through the Duluth Harbor, along the entire Canadian coast and into Michigan via the Sault Ste. Marie locks.

The women are expected to complete their journey Saturday in Little Sand Bay, Wisconsin, according to the Bayfield Chamber and Visitor Bureau.

Lake Superior is the largest lake in the world by surface area.
