Northbound Interstate 35 has reopened at Highway 19 near Northfield after an early-morning crash. The roadway was closed for hours and at one point traffic was backed up almost 4 miles.
According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, one person was reportedly killed in the crash.

A coating of light snow in the metro area made for a slow start to the morning commute Wednesday.
KSTP Traffic Reporter Josie Smith said average speeds on highways and interstate were around 40-50 mph.

Additionally, Smith reported a crash on the ramp from Hanson Boulevard to Highway 10 in Coon Rapids.

A crash on southbound Interstate 35W near County Road 96 in Arden Hills backed up traffic to Highway 10, Smith said.
According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, northbound I-35 at the Highway 19/Northfield exit closed Wednesday morning as the result of a crash. Traffic in the area was being detoured.

Smith said a couple of spinouts caused slight delays on eastbound Interstate 694 near Rice Street in Shoreview.
Smith advised planning for a slower morning commute.
Meanwhile, the ramp from eastbound Interstate 94 to southbound I-35W in Minneapolis re-opened early Wednesday morning.
The closure went into effect to allow crews to complete overnight work on a retaining wall near Franklin Avenue.
