It's the end of an era in Bloomington.

The last large farm in the city may be sold Tuesday.

The 60-acre Kelly Farm near the Mall of America along Old Shakopee Road is expected to be purchased by the Bloomington Port Authority for more than $32 million.

Minnesota's Bid for World Fair

Minnesota is one of three finalists to host the 2023 World's Fair - which will be known as Expo 2023.

The finalists for the award were announced in June in Paris by the General Assembly of the Bureau of International des Expositions.

The other finalists are Buenos Aires, Argentina and Lodz, Poland. If Minnesota's bid is selected, the theme for the Specialized Expo would be "Healthy People, Healthy Planet," playing on the state's reputation for medical care led by institutions like the Mayo Clinic.

A finalist will be selected in November.

The last time a World's Fair was held in the U.S was 1984 in New Orleans.

The port authority hopes to use the property for the World's Fair Expo in 2023, should it be awarded to Minnesota. The land is one of the largest undeveloped pieces of property in the Twin Cities.

The Bloomington City Council and Bloomington Port Authority will vote on the plan Tuesday night.
