Illinois Man Charged in St. Paul Murder

An Illinois man has been charged with second-degree murder in Ramsey County court in connection to the fatal shooting of a man at the Lamplighter Lounge in St. Paul on Sept. 29.

Peter Devonn Crosby, 35 of Zion, Illinois, was charged Friday.

The criminal complaint alleges Crosby and two other men arrived at the Lamplighter, located at 160 Larpenteur Avenue West, on the evening of Sept. 29.

Also at the bar that night with his brother was 37-year-old Ja'uan Eugene Love. Though surveillance video does not appear to show any altercations between Love and anyone in the bar.

But video after the bar closed is reported to show interaction between Crosby, another person and Love. Then Crosby is alleged to pull out a gun and shot Love from behind.

It was the city's 17th homicide this year. Love was the father to five children.
