Minnesota Moment: Lovelace a Football Fixture in Lakeville

October 12, 2017 10:45 PM

High school football has been a big part of life in Lakeville for many years now.

And through those decades, Howard Lovelace has been a fixture.

Lovelace was part of the first undefeated football team at the old Lakeville High School back in 1952.

Now, in 2017, he's being honored for 50 years running the chains on Friday nights, both at the old Lakeville High and now at Lakeville North.

He's 82, but he said he'll keep doing it as long as he's able.

Even if his grandchildren think he should hang it up.

I get a free ticket," he said. "I get to see a closeup of the plays."

Lakeville North will honor Lovelace prior to the school's home game against Prior Lake, scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. Friday.
