A Fridley police vehicle flipped over Friday morning after being hit by a car during an attempt to pull over another vehicle.
At 8:10 a.m. an officer saw a red light violation at University Avenue and Mississippi Street Northeast and put on his lights as he went to pull over the car. While the officer drove forward, another vehicle driven by a man did not see the police car and broadsided it, causing it to roll over.
The female passenger of the car and the officer were taken to Unity Hospital in Fridley with minor injuries.
The vehicle that violated the red light was not identified and did not stop at the scene.
The crash investigation will be handled by the Minnesota State Patrol.
