Frey Sworn in as Minneapolis Mayor in Private Ceremony

Jacob Frey officially became the new mayor of Minneapolis Tuesday morning.

Frey was sworn in during a private ceremony. A public inauguration is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Monday in the City Hall Rotunda. Frey will deliver his inaugural address at that time.

Following his own private ceremony, Frey attended the public inaugural of St. Paul mayor Melvin Carter Tuesday afternoon at St. Paul Central High School.

An inaugural party is scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday at First Avenue.

Before that, though, Frey intended to celebrate his first day as mayor by riding in a garbage truck Tuesday afternoon.
