First Win, Two Veteran Newcomers Boost United's Spirits

April 06, 2017 01:51 PM

The mood is decidedly lighter at Minnesota United's homebase in Blaine after logging their first-ever Major League Soccer victory last time out against Real Salt Lake.

There is also an air of competition among the Loons backliners after the team brought in season MLS veterans Sam Cronin and Marc Burch. Cronin is a defensive midfielder with 235 games played in MLS. Burch, a defender, has played 213 games.

The trades for the two defensive vets comes as United has allowed 20 goals in their first six games.  No other team in Major League Soccer has allowed more than seven.

On the plus side, United's 10 goals scored rank fourth in MLS - one spot behind fellow 2017 expansion team Atlanta.

United hits the road for their next two games. They're at Dallas on Saturday and play at Houston a week later.
