Washington County officials say charges have been brought against 18 people who were arrested during a sex trafficking operation over Super Bowl week.

The Washington County Attorney's Office says the operation was a multiple-agency effort that comprised the East Metro Sex Trafficking Task Force, and was led by the Minneapolis Police Department "as part of suppression efforts related to child sex trafficking."

The task force was created through a grant from the state's public safety department, and is scheduled to run through 2019.

Last week, the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension announced 42 people were netted in a week-long sting during the same time period.
