January 24, 2017 10:55 PM

A 25-year-old pregnant woman died in Eagan and now a homicide investigation is underway, according to authorities.

After police received a 911 call, they found her at a townhome on the 3100 block of Alden Pond Lane around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say life-saving efforts were not successful.

Authorities say the woman was 32 weeks pregnant, which is approximately 8 months. Lt. Nate Tennessen of the Eagan Police Department said, "It's tragic."

The fetus also died.

Investigators say they are questioning 23-year-old Vern Jason Moelle of Brooklyn Park as a person of interest. Moelle was taken into custody at about 5:45 p.m. He has not been named a suspect.

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS asked if there could potentially be double homicide charges against a person who's named a suspect. Eagan police said they cannot answer that at this time, as it's under investigation.

Police say they are not looking for anybody else in this case.

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS asked Tennessen if the victim and person of interest knew each other: “I can’t speak to the relationship at this point,” Lt. Tennessen said.
