Douglas County Sheriff's Department Reports Fish House Break-Ins

The Douglas County Sheriff's Department reports it has received a number of reports of break-ins, theft and damage to property involving fish houses on county lakes over the past few weeks.

A release said deputies have responded to calls on Lake Brophy, Freeborn Lake, Lake Mary, Lake Darling and Lake Le Homme Dieu.

On Lake Darling, deputies reportedly located tracks from two suspects who allegedly used a pickup to travel from fish house to fish house.

The sheriff's department is asking the public not to approach suspects, but to call authorities if they notice suspicious activity. Anyone with a fish house on a lake is advised not to leave valuable items there.
