Another metro-area police department plans to have its officers wear body cameras.

The Crystal Police Department wants to roll out the body cameras next year. Before that, the city wants to hear from the public.

A public hearing is scheduled for 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at the Neighborhood Outreach Office on Willow Bend.

Police will be in attendance to answer questions, discuss the policy and hear what residents have to say.

In Minneapolis, officers at the 1st Precinct started wearing body cameras in July. The program most recently expanded to officers in the 4th Precinct on the northside. Officers are required to turn those cameras on during any traffic stop, suspicious vehicle stop or arrest.
